About This Fishery

A historic 36-acre estate lake on the Longleat Estate created in the 18th century by landscape architect Lancelot 'Capability' Brown. Shearwater is a natural, semi-wild mixed fishery renowned for prolific bream catches, strong heads of carp to over 35lb, roach to 2lb and pike to over 20lb, all in one of Wiltshire's most beautiful parkland settings.

Tackle
  • Carp cradle or unhooking mat and carp care liquid required for all carp anglers.
Conduct
  • This is a multi-use public site shared with walkers, cyclists and a sailing club.
Access
  • Booking via gocatch.fish app required. Walk-up may be available but pre-booking recommended.
  • Car parking is included in the ticket price. Do not park on the road surface.
  • No fishing off the dam wall. Dam wall is closed to both vehicles and anglers from Aug 2025.
  • Pike fishing permitted Oct to end of March only.
  • Vehicles must not cross the dam wall. Drop kit at north bank then park in road bank car parks.
