About Going Fishing Directory

Going Fishing Directory is built to help anglers make better decisions about where to fish, with accurate, structured and useful information about coarse fisheries across the UK.

More Than a List of Fisheries

Finding the name and address of a fishery is easy. Finding the information you actually need before deciding whether to fish there can be considerably harder.

Going Fishing Directory brings that information together in a consistent format, helping anglers understand not only where a fishery is, but what they can expect when they arrive.

Depending on the information available for a venue, this can include its individual waters, species, depths, number of pegs, ticket prices, facilities, opening information, fishery rules, regular open match days and seasonal fishing advice.

Why We Built It

Too much useful fishery information is scattered across websites, social media pages, booking systems and old posts, while some fisheries have very little reliable information available online at all.

Going Fishing Directory was created to provide a more useful starting point: one place where anglers can discover fisheries and compare the practical information that matters when planning a day's fishing.

What Anglers Can Expect

The Directory is designed around the questions anglers actually ask. What waters are there? What species can I expect to catch? How deep is it? How many pegs are available? What does it cost? What facilities are on site? What are the rules?

We aim to present those answers clearly and consistently, making it easier to discover new venues and decide whether a fishery is right for the kind of fishing you want to do.

For Fishery Owners

Fishery owners and authorised representatives can claim their fishery within the Directory and help keep its information accurate and up to date.

Owner-managed information sits within the same structured format used throughout the Directory, so anglers receive useful, consistent information regardless of which fishery they are viewing.

Our Standard

Going Fishing Directory is not built around having the largest possible number of listings. A fishery is useful to an angler only when there is enough reliable information to make that listing worthwhile.

We therefore favour accurate, structured and verifiable information over numbers for their own sake. Where sufficient information cannot be established, a fishery may not be published until better information becomes available.

The aim is simple: to build the most useful coarse fishery reference we can.
