A quiet, family-run fishery and campsite just outside Little Walden, near Saffron Walden. Genuinely well-regarded for its peaceful setting and friendly owners, with a "back to basics" camping field alongside the fishing.
The bigger of the two lakes by swim count. Lots of small-to-medium carp, tench and silverfish — good for building a big bag of fish and well suited to juniors. Reviewers note it can be quite shallow in places. Carp often sit just off the bank in the margins.
The smaller, harder-fishing of the two lakes — known as a genuine challenge. Holds the larger specimen fish on site despite the smaller swim count.
