About This Fishery

A 100-year-old specimen carp lake near North Thoresby with an active restocking programme, now producing carp to 43lb+. Purpose-built angler cabins on every swim, with unhooking mats, slings and landing nets provided — no need to bring your own. Island Lake also available for lake-exclusive sessions. Pike fishing permitted in winter.

Over 100 years old. Specialist specimen carp water — 60% of other species removed. Large head of carp mostly over 20lb, many 25lb+. 25 different 30lb+ carp caught. Lake record 43lb 8oz Common (Jan 2026). Pike present to 25lb+, pike fishing permitted in winter (dead sea baits only). Cabins on every swim, fully fitted with Astro turf. Unhooking mats, slings and landing nets provided — do not bring your own.

Lake exclusive only — for up to 4 anglers, or adult and child, or guest. Carp to 28lb with smaller and double-figure fish. Cabins on each swim. Check-in 10am, check-out 9:30am. £150 for 48hrs for up to 4 anglers.

Fishery Rules
  • Advance booking mandatory — no walk-ups permitted.
  • Gate opens for 1 hour every morning by request only; after 10:30am may be allowed if someone is available.
  • All anglers must hold a valid National Rod Licence.
  • No anglers under 16 on site unless on a lake exclusive event, accompanied by an experienced angler.
  • No guests or visitors permitted.
  • Only 1 person per cabin — no sharing.
  • All photos of fish must be sent to management before leaving.
  • Any fish over 25lb must be reported to the bailiff or owner for fish checks.
  • Any carp under 19lb to be photographed both sides and reported, then placed in Island Lake.
  • No sacking of fish.
  • No fires.
  • No drug use on the property.
  • No excessive drinking; if seen to be drunk, rods must be reeled in immediately.
  • No smoking in the cabins.
  • No dogs allowed.
  • Cigarette butts must be cleared away immediately.
  • All rubbish must be taken home.
  • Fishing from designated pegs only; no stalking.
  • No access to far bank without permission.
  • No wet wipes flushed down the toilet.
  • Removal of fish from the fishery is strictly prohibited.
  • Fish care products (e.g. Propolis) are mandatory — no fish care products means no fishing.
  • Landing nets, slings and cradles provided on site — do not bring your own; collect from office before session and return after.
  • Minimum 15lb mainline (0.35 thickness).
  • Rods must be minimum 2.75lb test curve when targeting carp.
  • Maximum 3 rods, all within designated swim even if adjacent swims are vacant.
  • No rods to be left unattended; bite alarms and drop-back indicators required.
  • Rig tubing only — cut a 2m length into 3 sections. No naked line.
  • No fixed leads; no inline leads.
  • No braided mainline, leadcore leaders or braided leaders.
  • No back-leading.
  • Minimum hook size 6 wide gape, micro barbed only when targeting carp.
  • No long shank hooks.
  • No large bait screws.
  • No chod rigs except size 4 wide gape.
  • No death rigs — instant ban.
  • No glue on drop-off lead clips.
  • Only quick-release swivels permitted.
  • Bait boats permitted but must be kept within designated swim.
  • No nuts of any kind.
  • No plastic or fake hook baits, including toppers.
  • Pellets must be purchased on site.
  • Own boilies permitted but must be from recognised bait companies.
  • Party particle mix allowed but not maize or corn on its own; no fake toppers (November to March: boilies and pellets only).
  • Pike fishing permitted in winter — dead sea baits only; no spinning; no live baits (live baits must be caught at the lake).
  • Maggots and worms permitted from 1 November to end of February only.
