About This Fishery

An 18-acre spring-fed specimen carp lake just off the A1 near Newark, transformed into a carp fishery in 2004. Around 250 carp with over 50 thirties and 10 forties to a lake record of 47lb+; catfish also present. Nineteen well-spaced swims with one disabled-access peg. Anglers' lodge open 24/7 with toilets, showers, Wi-Fi, dining area and on-site tackle shop.

Spring-fed mature gravel pit. Gravel bars, silty drop-offs and weed in warmer months. All 19 pegs fishable. One disabled-access swim with car and wheelchair access in front of car park. Some double swims available. Approximately 250 carp with 50+ thirties and 10+ forties. Catfish also present (approximately 20). Lake record Mirror/Common 47lb+.

Fishery Rules
  • Advance booking required — minimum session is 24 hours.
  • No children under 16 on Cromwell Lake. Supervised under-16s permitted on Cromwell Pool only.
  • All anglers must hold a valid Environment Agency rod licence.
  • Maximum 3 rods.
  • Barbless hooks only, maximum size 4.
  • Minimum 0.35mm diameter mainline. No braided mainline or shock leaders; braided hook lengths permitted.
  • No fixed lead rigs — leads must release on the bite or in the event of a crack-off.
  • Safe Zone style leaders, lead-free leaders and rig tubing are fine; maximum 1 metre in length.
  • Rods must not be left unattended at any time.
  • Bait boats permitted, used sensibly within your own water.
  • Boilies and pellets only.
  • No dead or live baiting, no spinning.
  • No OMC Magic Twig.
  • Fish care is paramount — a carp care kit must be carried at all times; Propolis preferred.
  • Fish to be retained in sling or landing net no longer than 15 minutes prior to weighing and photographing.
  • Any damaged or sick fish to be reported immediately to the manager or bailiff.
  • All fish over 40lb and any catfish must be reported to the bailiff immediately, whatever the time.
  • Random rig checks may be carried out — please do not be offended.
  • Lake may be closed during spawning — sessions will be rescheduled, no refunds.
  • 5mph speed limit on the site lane and through the gates.
  • Swims to be left tidy and free of litter; cigarette butts in pots provided.
  • No dogs on site.
  • All BBQs must be off the ground; no fires.
  • No tents; no bivvy sharing except for couples or in special circumstances.
  • No swimming.
  • Only one non-fishing guest per angler, must be booked prior to arrival.
  • No ungentlemanly conduct.
  • No refunds.
  • Maggots permitted from 1 November to 14 March — to be used sensibly.
