Burgess Park Lake

A well-stocked public park lake in Burgess Park, one of South London's largest parks, offering urban coarse fishing with carp, roach, tench and bream. Day tickets are booked in advance via the Catch app or website. Fishing is in a clearly defined angling zone; the other half of the lake is a protected wildlife habitat area.

• A valid Environment Agency Rod Licence must be held and carried whilst angling. Receipt confirming day ticket purchase must also be shown on request.
• Maximum of three rods (with appropriate valid rod licences).
• Angling only in the designated part of the lake and on clearly defined swims. Fishing in the wildlife habitat area is not permitted.
• All anglers must use an unhooking mat and carry a carp care kit at all times.
• Landing nets must be a minimum of 36 inches in diameter and must be dry before placing into the lake.
• No keepnets.
• Tiger nuts are the only nut bait permitted.
• Baited rods must not be left unattended. Unattended equipment will be removed as lost property, stored at the Park Office for one month and then disposed of.
• Junior anglers aged 12–16 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Noise must be kept to a minimum at all times.
• No littering. No BBQs, cooking stoves or naked flames.
• No boats or dinghies on the lake. No swimming, bathing or sub-aqua.
• All fish are the property of Southwark Council and must be returned promptly to the swim where caught.
