About This Fishery

Alton Water is the largest inland water in Suffolk -- a 400-acre Anglian Water reservoir renowned for big-water roach fishing, with two-pound-plus specimens regularly recorded alongside large bream shoals and a growing head of Mirror and Common Carp. An adjacent 12-acre pool, Wick Lane Lake, is open to day ticket anglers and holds carp to over 30lb. Juniors under 18 accompanied by a permit-holding adult fish free of charge.

Tackle

Predator deadbait permitted 1 Oct to 31 Mar only. Predator lure fishing permitted 15 May to 31 Mar.
Wire traces must be used when fishing for pike, zander, and perch.

Access

All anglers must hold a valid Anglian Water fishing permit and a current Environment Agency Rod Licence.
Juniors under 18 accompanied by an adult permit holder fish free of charge.
Night fishing available on season ticket only.
Photo ID required to collect permits. Permits available from Alton Water Visitor Centre, Watersports Centre, Breakaway Tackle, Birds Tackle, and Viscount Tackle.
